About The Job

Rockney Media is launching three podcasts, and we’re looking for an exceptional Podcast Operations & Production Coordinator to help build them from the ground up.

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves podcasts, media, research, interesting people, and making things happen.

We’re looking for someone who hears, “We should try to get this person on the podcast,” and immediately starts figuring out how to make it happen.

Someone who can research a fascinating potential guest, track down the right contact, coordinate a recording, organize an upcoming production schedule, work with editors and producers, identify a great moment for social media—and keep dozens of moving pieces from falling through the cracks.

You don’t need to know how to do everything on day one.

You do need to be the kind of person who figures things out.

This is an opportunity to join Rockney Media at the beginning and play a meaningful role in building three podcast brands and the systems, relationships, and content operation behind them.

What You’ll Do

No two weeks will look exactly alike. You’ll work across podcast development, guest relations, research, production, content, and operations.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Research interesting potential guests and develop targeted guest lists
  • Find creative ways to reach high-profile or difficult-to-reach guests
  • Conduct background research on guests, topics, trends, and upcoming episodes
  • Reach out to prospective guests, agents, managers, publicists, experts, and other contacts
  • Manage guest communication from initial outreach through recording
  • Coordinate recording schedules, guest availability, studios, and production logistics
  • Prepare guest briefs, background materials, research, and talking points before interviews
  • Help develop episode concepts and identify timely or compelling topics
  • Organize episode rundowns and supporting research
  • Coordinate with podcast producers, editors, videographers, studios, designers, and other creative partners
  • Track episodes from idea → guest outreach → booking → recording → editing → approval → publication → promotion
  • Maintain guest pipelines, production calendars, contact databases, and content trackers
  • Review episodes and identify strong moments, quotes, clips, and ideas for social media
  • Help coordinate YouTube and social media content
  • Track emerging conversations, trends, personalities, and stories that could become podcast topics
  • Research potential sponsors, partnerships, collaborations, and cross-promotional opportunities
  • Coordinate podcast-related travel, events, meetings, and recording logistics
  • Take ownership of special projects and unexpected problems as they arise

Who We’re Looking For

Your exact background matters less than the way you think and work.

You might come from podcasting, digital media, journalism, communications, PR, social media, content creation, event production, project management—or something completely different.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Extremely resourceful. When you don’t know the answer, your instinct is to find it.
  • Highly organized. You can keep dozens of moving pieces straight without constantly being reminded.
  • Proactive. You see what needs to happen and start moving it forward.
  • Intellectually curious. You enjoy learning about unfamiliar people, ideas, industries, and subjects.
  • A great researcher. You’re surprisingly good at finding information—and people—online.
  • A strong communicator. You can write a polished email and comfortably interact with everyone from a podcast guest to a publicist to a CEO.
  • Digitally fluent. You’re comfortable learning new software, platforms, social media tools, and AI tools.
  • Interested in media and culture. You pay attention to podcasts, YouTube, social media, current events, business, health, culture, and interesting people.
  • Good under pressure. When something changes at the last minute, you solve the problem rather than panic about it.
  • Persistent without being annoying. You know when to follow up, when to try another route, and when to move on.
  • Someone who closes loops. If you say you’re going to handle something, it gets handled.

What You Don’t Need

You do not need years of podcast production experience to be considered.

We can teach you our production process.

We can’t teach curiosity, initiative, resourcefulness, judgment, or the desire to make things happen.

Experience in podcasting or digital media is certainly a plus, but we’d rather find an exceptional person with the right instincts and abilities than limit the search to candidates who have already held a specific job title.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means increasingly being given an outcome instead of instructions.

You might hear:

“I’d love to get this person on the podcast.”

And figure out who represents them, how to reach them, what angle might interest them, and how to get the conversation started.

Or:

“We should do an episode about this.”

And come back with potential guests, background research, competing perspectives, interesting questions, and ideas we hadn’t considered.

Or:

“Our recording schedule is becoming a mess.”

And build a better system.

Or simply:

“Can you figure this out?”

And figure it out.

That combination of initiative, judgment, resourcefulness, and follow-through is what will make someone exceptional in this position.

Why Join Rockney Media?

You’re not joining a mature media company where every process has already been established.

You’re joining at the beginning—and that’s part of the opportunity.

While Rockney Media is new, its founder is an experienced entrepreneur with a demonstrated track record of starting, building, scaling, and successfully transacting a company. Most recently, she co-founded and grew OneSource Regulatory, a regulatory consulting company that was acquired by ProPharma in 2022.

That entrepreneurial experience and operating mindset are now being brought to Rockney Media.

For the right person, this is a unique opportunity: the energy and possibilities of an early-stage company, combined with the experience of a founder who has successfully built and scaled a business before.

Because you’re joining early, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape how we identify guests, conduct research, manage production, create content, organize workflows, develop partnerships, and grow three distinct podcast brands.

You’ll have meaningful responsibility from the beginning and exposure to virtually every aspect of building a podcast and digital media business.

We want someone who doesn’t just want a job in media, but is excited by the opportunity to help build a media company.

As Rockney Media grows, we expect this position to grow with it. For the right person, this could evolve into a larger role in podcast production, content development, talent relations, partnerships, or media operations.

Compensation & Work Arrangement

Salary: $65,000–$80,000, depending on experience.

This is a full-time, hybrid position based in the McKinney / Dallas–Fort Worth area.

Some work can be done remotely, but candidates must live within reasonable proximity to McKinney and be available for recordings, meetings, events, and other in-person needs when appropriate.

Media doesn’t always operate on a perfect 9-to-5 schedule, so occasional flexibility will be important.

Please apply through LinkedIn and include your resume.

We’re less interested in whether you’ve followed a traditional media career path and much more interested in how you think, what you’ve accomplished, and whether you’re someone who knows how to make things happen.

Candidates who advance in the process will be asked to complete a brief written exercise designed to help us understand how they think and approach unfamiliar problems.
