Briana Cepeda

Account Executive

Salem Media Group

How did you join the industry and what was your first position?

It started at a young age seeing my mom who was working in media. I remember being 10 years old and writing down all the commercials I would see during the super bowl to give to her so that she could turn around and call them the next day and I loved doing it.

I started my professional journey in media with an internship at the Fox affiliate in College Station, KWKT my senior year of college. After that the rest was history and I knew that media would be the place for me after graduation.

What can you tell us about your current role?

Right now, I am an Account Executive at Salem Media Group. I am thankful everyday that I was able to find a job that has put so much time and effort into training me and setting me up for success. Although the job can be hard the good times are what push me through. I love connecting with new people and working together to help businesses grow.

What advice would you give someone new to our industry?

Take in as much as you can, try to learn something new from every person you meet. People are willing to teach and give very valuable insights if you listen.

What has changed since you started working in media?

I have had a short career in media thus far, but I constantly am reminded just how fast things change. The digital world is growing every day and new technology becomes available. I love learning about all the creepy new ways we can use advertising to help businesses grow.

What inspired you to become involved in Alliance for Women in Media?

I’ve always been surrounded by strong women in my life, specifically in media. My mom worked in media for almost 40 years. I’ve always looked up to her and her many friends I’ve met that worked in media as well. Seeing women in my life be such rockstars has really driven me and given me vision that I can achieve anything.

What is the one truth that has held constant throughout your career?

I’ve learned that the best way to succeed in this business is to be your authentic self, truthful and to stay humble… And that coffee is a life saver!
