AWM-DFW offers members a variety of educational, professional development and leadership training opportunities. These programs are designed to assist members looking to connect with other professionals in the media industry, advance in their current position or accelerate their career to the next level.
Job postings are a free service for companies who want to post their job openings. This is also a free service for job seekers who want to review the postings on our website. Internships and career coaching are available for students who attend the Student Media Tour.
AWM-DFW hosts an annual Student Media Tour each Spring when students have the opportunity to visit area businesses who offer internships in the field.
Each year in the spring, AWM DFW will award two $5000 scholarships in the names of Irene Runnels, a distinguished and respected Dallas broadcaster and Paula McStay, a former Fort Worth advertising executive. As part of the Student Media Tour one $2000 Essay scholarship is awarded in the name of Judy Miller, who was an outstanding and treasured advertising executive that served in the DFW Metroplex.
AWM-DFW assists in the founding of collegiate affiliates. UTA has a local organization and AWM-DFW participates in the UTA Communications Day in the Fall.
AWM DFW hosts the annual Awards of Excellence Gala in the Spring when local media professionals are nominated by their peers and awarded for their outstanding reputation in the industry. This recognizes stellar work in “unsung” but important job categories such as media selling, media buying and media management.
Each year AWM-DFW also recognizes one outstanding individual for the Silver Award of Excellence at Gala for a lifetime achievement award.
