Rachel Brittenham - The Loomis Agency
How did you join the industry and what was your first position?
I joined the industry as an intern with Harrington Righter Parsons (now COX Reps). My first position was a sales assistant with the rep firm. Well an intern if you want to be technical.
What can you tell us about your current role?
My title says Sr. Media Buyer, but like most people I wear multiple hats. On top of buying and planning for our clients (Texas Oncology, Dairy Queen, Fitness Connection just to name a few), I'm working with both our traditional and digital teams to create convergence media opportunities for our clients. I seek opportunities to connect the agency with non-profit organizations and college/university marketing and advertising programs. 2020 was a trying year as we all know, but there were a few good things that happened. Last summer I was able to help create the agency's solidarity team. This team was created post George Floyd to increase our efforts in diversity and inclusion. Since the creation of this program we have developed a book club, created a partnership program for minority owned businesses with a focus on people of color.
What advice would you give someone new to our industry?
Don't lose your passion and never stop dreaming. We sometimes get so caught up in our careers that we forget why we wanted to be in this business. Your passion and your dreams are what keep you motivated and activated personally and professionally. Lastly, be intentional, build relationships and don't be afraid to fail.
What do you love most about our industry?
I love that we have the ability to create and meet so many amazing people.
What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?
I used to be a hip hop dance teacher and back up dancer.
