AWM Scholarships

We want to congratulate 2018 recipients of the Irene Runnels –Paula McStay $5,000 scholarships, Alissa Llort & Bethany Pfeiffer

 

 

 

 

 

  Alissa Llort is also one of our recipients for this year’s Irene Runnels- McStay Scholarship.  Alissa is currently attending SMU with a major in advertising specializing in strategic brand management and a  minor in psychology.  She plans on graduating in May 2019.  She is currently the marketing director at the Women Ambassadors Forum, a student run non-profit organization that aims to  empower women  globally through an annual forum held at SMU.  In this principal role she leads her team in branding, graphic design, pr, social media and marketing.  Alissa has maintained a 3.75 GPA  while being a full  time student and employed at the Hunt Institute as an advertising manager and external affairs team lead.  Alissa feels that Irene Runnels and Paula McStay have truly paved the way for the next generation of women to chase their professional advertising dreams.  Alissa’s personal goal is to continue to  empower  young female leaders based on her college experiences.

  Bethany Pfeiffer is one of our recipients for this year’s Irene Rennels- Paula McStay Scholarship.  Bethany is currently attending Baylor University in Waco, Tx with a major in Marketing & Corporate Communications.  She plans on graduating in May 2019.  This year The Baylor Hankamer School of Business recognized and awarded Bethany a trip to attend Adweek in NYC.   This honor  was granted by Bethany’s college peers due to her classroom accomplishments & class dialogue involvement. Bethany holds a 3.6 GPA while being a full time student, working multiple part time jobs,  holding two campus leadership roles and volunteering at local charities.  After her graduation next spring, Bethany plans to enroll in a graduate marketing program to master her marketing skills.

 

                                 

 

Dallas Area Alliance for Women in Media Foundation

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS

The Dallas Area Alliance for Women in Media Foundation, Inc. will award three scholarships totaling $12,500Two $5000 scholarships are in the names of Irene Runnels, a distinguished and respected Dallas broadcaster and Paula McStay, a former Fort Worth advertising executive. One $2000 Essay scholarship is in the name of Judy Miller, who was an outstanding and treasured advertising executive that served in the DFW Metroplex. These scholarships are available in early 2019.  Scholarships are directly paid to the University Financial Aid Office and must be applied toward undergraduate or graduate tuition only.

 

Irene Runnels – Paula McStay Scholarships

The Irene Runnels-Paula McStay $5,000 college scholarships is awarded to two students attending a Texas public or private university that offers radio, television, film, public relations, advertising/communications or broadcasting as the major emphasis of study. Applicants are considered based on educational and career goals in their major field of study, activities and honors, service to community and references.

Student Media Tour-Judy Miller Scholarship

The Student Media Tour- Judy Miller Scholarship awards one student who registers and participates in the 2019 Student Media Tour and provides a brief essay.  The essay will be a recap of why you participated in the Student Media Tour and how the scholarship will benefit you. The essay should be single spaced between 250-500 words in Times New Roman with 1in margins. Announcement of the $2000 scholarship is after the Student Media Tour in March 2019. These scholarships will be acknowledged at the Dallas Area Alliance for Women in Media Foundation Award of Excellence Gala on April 11, 2019.

 

Media Con $500 Scholarship

This $500 scholarship is open to any student that attends and participates at Media Con 2018. Simply share a photo or video of your experience and list your favorite thing about MediaCon in the caption along with  #AWMMediaCon and #AWMDFW. The student with the most likes by the end of the day wins!  Cut off time will be 11:59pm CST on 11/3/18. Your post must include all necessary components in order to win. All posts are tracked using the #AWMMediaCon hashtag.  The winner will be posted by AWM DFW & the scholarship will be sent directly to the winner’s school.

 

Scholarship Program
In 1960, the Alliance for Women in Media became the first professional broadcasting organization to establish an educational foundation. Our mission is to utilize the media to create positive change. The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation supports educational programs, charitable activities, public service campaigns and scholarships to benefit the public, the media and allied fields.
